Brand New Medical Facilites at Sunny Bank

Medical facilities for students and the community of Old Aberdeen are set to significantly improve following the opening of a brand new, purpose-built NHS medical practice at Sunnybank, Aberdeen. The new Old Aberdeen Medical Practice opened its doors on January 12, 2004 following the merger of the University of Aberdeen Medical Practice and the Spital Medical Practice. Six doctors will be joined by 20 other practice staff in the new, state-of-the-art facilities at 12 Sunnybank Road, Aberdeen. The new practice is expected to have a patient list of approximately 11,500. The £1 million development has been financed by the University of Aberdeen with the new facilities being leased and run by NHS Grampian. Professor The Lord Sewel, University Senior Vice Principal said of the development: "This new medical practice is going to give students and residents of Old Aberdeen significantly improved medical facilities. This type of development - working in partnership with NHS Grampian, is a first for Aberdeen and an exciting model for the future."
