University Bus Services

The RGU:Unilink No.9 service operates between the City Centre and the Garthdee Campus.

In addition, First has recently invested £4 million in its Red Line (bus services No.1 and 1A, and No.2 and 2A), significantly enhancing the service between the city centre and Garthdee. For information on these and other routes, visit the First website at:

Route

Buses departing between 0750 and 0830 inclusive leave from Woolmanhill Halls of Residence in John Street and travel to Garthdee via Schoolhill, Broad Street, Union Street, Holburn Street and Garthdee Road.

The return route goes via Auchinyell Road, Broomhill Road, Holburn Street, Union Street,Union Terrace and HM Theatre on Rosemount Viaduct.

Subsequent buses will depart from the stop outside HM Theatre on Rosemount Viaduct and will not include Woolmanhill in their route.

Timetable

Buses will run every 10 minutes between 08.00 and 09.00 and every 15 minutes between 09.00 and 18.45 Monday to Friday. In addition, there will be a 45 minute evening service between 18.45 and 21.30 for staff and students wishing to use the library of sports centre.

(Please note - buses running from 0840 onwards will not leave from Woolmanhill, but will leave from HM Theatre.)

Important Information:

There will be no RGU: Unilink buses running on Wednesday 3rd January 2007.

Fares

There are various fare options to suit:

  • Passengers can pay the driver on the bus, as with all other First Bus services.
  • Staff and students can purchase a weekly pass in advance (see below)
  • Students can purchase an online annual ticket (see below)

Weekly passes must be purchased in advance at one of the recognised outlets (see below) but can not be purchased on the bus. The RGU:Unilink passes offer unlimited travel on any RGU:Unilink service only.

Staff passes cost £5.00 per week and student passes cost £4.00 per week (£5.00 as from 18 September 2006). Passes can also be bought for a whole semester.

Alternatively, any member of staff or student can purchase a weekly pass which will give unlimited travel on any First bus service seven days per week. These cost £14.00 for staff and £9.00 for students.

Students also have the option of purchasing an annual First student pass offering unlimited travel on any First service nationally.

Ticket Outlets

Weekly and semester passes for the RGU:Unilink service, for both staff and students, can be purchased from the following outlets:

  • First Travel Centre, 47 Union Street (Monday to Saturday 8.45am - 5.30pm)
  • Student Advice Centre, Blackfriar Street (Monday to Friday 10am - 2pm)
  • Student Advice Centre, Sports Centre, Garthdee (Monday to Friday 10am - 12pm)
