The North East Clan Fortnight 2009

Coinciding with The Gathering in Edinburgh, The North East Clan Fortnight from 18th July to 3rd August showcases our clan ancestral homelands, history and tradition including:-

  • To launch the Fortnight, the National Trust for Scotland’s NE Clan Ball and Gala Evening at Drum Castle
  • Learn more about “Your North East” at a day conference in historic King’s College, University of Aberdeen
  • Visit your Clan homelands on Blue Guide coach tours of the City and Shire
  • Enjoy a visit to Aberdeen & NE Scotland Family History Centre, City and Shire Archives and Registrar Offices
  • Evening entertainment includes the Scottish premieres of both Burns’ Opera “Ae Fond Kiss” at Haddo House, & “Monboddo the Musical” at Crathes Castle; see Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham in concert at Turriff Ceilidh
  • Join the March of the Clans at Aboyne Highland Games on Saturday 1st August and again at Aberdeen Tartan Day on Sunday 2nd August closing with an International Beating Retreat by the Gordon Highlanders Reunion
  • See world renowned Aberdeen-Angus Cattle at Scotland’s biggest two day event, the Turriff Show on 2nd-3rd August, where the Overseas Visitors Tent stewards will provide you with a warm welcome.
