Aberdeen is one of a small group of European towns where waterlogged conditions have preserved evidence of medieval buildings and artefacts dating back to the 12th century. In addition the City’s Sites and Monuments Record holds information on some 2700 archaeological and historical sites, ranging in date from 6000BC to the 1960s AD.
