Serving the local economy

Aberdeen Airport contributes in the region of £482 million per annum to the local economy.

The airport is owned and operated by Aberdeen Airport Limited, part of BAA. A continual investment programme ensures facilities match the needs of the region and that high levels of customer service and safety are maintained. A total of over £30 million has been spent on infrastructure and improvements in the last decade.

Employment

The airport employs approximately 240 staff in roles ranging from security to retail management and engineering to customer services.

In total almost 3,000 staff work at the airport for a range of organisations such as airlines, handling agents, cargo agents, police, customs, immigration, retailers, hotels and helicopter companies.

Passenger Numbers

More than three million passengers pass through the main terminal and nearly half a million more passengers use the helicopter terminals.

Aberdeen remains Europe’s busiest commercial heliport and one of the UK’s busiest airports in terms of aircraft movements.
