Strategic Alliances
Aberdeen City Council, working in partnership with other organisations, has been successful in developing Memoranda of Understanding (Strategic Alliances) with 5 other energy producing regions around the world:
- City of Torshavn in the Faroe Islands
- State of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil
- Atlantic Canada - Nova Scotia and Newfoundland
- Western Kazakhstan
- Mexico - City of Villahermosa and Government of the State of Tabasco
Aberdeen is also a member of The World Energy Cities Partnership(WECP)which was formed by cities commonly recognised as being energy capitals around the world, to work together to share knowledge, experience and international trade opportunities.
The purpose of the Strategic Alliances is:
- To keep each other informed of important economic and civic issues
- To provide information and support to prospective businesses interested in investment and business opportunities
- To give initial focus to business growth and co-operation in the following sectors
- Scientific Research
- Agricultural Production, Fishing, Food Processing and Marketing
- Environmental Technology
- Energy Related Technology
- Development of Information and Communications Technology
- Management, Training, and Education in Public and Private Sectors
