Transport
Aberdeen is the fastest growing BAA airport in Scotland and has the busiest civilian heliport in Europe.
First is the UK's largest transportation company with a revenue of over £3billion per annum and some 74,000 employees across the UK and North America.
Moir Lockhead, Chief Executive First Group Plc
"As the UK's leading public transport company, First recognises the importance of brand identity. Our business began in the North East of Scotland and every day we carry people between the Shire and the City as they go about their daily lives. I make the same journey myself and know the close links that exist between the two. This campaign will help to convey what many of us already know: Aberdeen City and Shire is a fantastic place to live and work."
Bus
FirstGroup is the largest bus operator in the UK, and runs more than 1 in 5 of all local bus services, carrying 2.8 million passengers every day.
Rail
First is also the UK's largest rail operator with four passenger franchises:
- First Great Western
- First Capital Connect
- First TransPennine Express
- First ScotRail.
It also operates Hull trains, a non-franchised open access operator and provides rail freight services through GB Railfreight.
North America
In July 1999 the Group made a significant entry into the North American transport market with the acquisitions of Bruce Transportation and Ryder Public Transportation (RPTS). These acquisitions formed FirstGroup America making it the second largest provider of school transportation services in the USA and a market leader in Transit Management Contracting and Vehicle Maintenance Services.
