Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG)
Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) is a non-profit making public-private organisation founded by Aberdeen City Council.
Aim
To develop a significant renewable energy industry in Aberdeen City and Shire.
Membership
It has nearly 100 members keen to engage in the development of renewable energy projects and to form joint ventures including:
- oil and gas operators
- service companies
- universities and research interests
- public bodies
- development and support agencies
- SME energy specialists.
The group developed, and is implementing, a plan to maintain and build upon Aberdeen’s status as a Global Energy Capital. It is also working to drive forward the city’s vision for the rapid development of its renewable energy industry.

- Offshore Wind Farm
- All Energy Exhibition and Conference
- Renewables Research Centre and Joint Chair in Energy Futures
- Development of a local bio mass strategy
Approaches from organisations who are interested in co-operative ventures to develop renewable energy opportunities are welcomed.
