Fascinating Places

Many fascinating places capture the distinct heritage and history of Aberdeen: the impressive turreted Town House on Union Street, the castellated Citadel at the Castlegate and the striking grandeur of Marischal College home of the Marischal Museum which was founded in 1786. In Old Aberdeen you can discover the past by visiting  500-year old University King's College, St. Machar's Cathedral and Seaton Park with walks leading to the Brig O’Balgownie across the River Don.

Journey Back in Time

Take a journey back in time by visiting Aberdeen’s oldest private town house, the 16th-century Provost Skene's House, the Gordon Highlanders Museum, the Maritime Museum and Fittie an old planned fishing village with a unique atmosphere. Across the harbour Torry Battery an old sea front fort gives the best panoramic view across Aberdeen.

The Tolbooth Museum, now the home of Aberdeen’s Museum of Civic History, served as a prison. Here you can experience the atmosphere of times gone by and visit the original cells where witches, debtors, criminals and felons spent their days.
