Aberdeen College

Aberdeen College with its main teaching centre situated in the heart of Aberdeen City is Scotland’s largest and most progressive college of further education.

Who are our students?

The College provides over 1,800 high quality education and training programmes to individuals, local communities and employers. Meeting the particular needs of such a diverse client base requires total flexibility. The College regularly delivers directly in over 100 community settings, company premises, and international locations.

What about the learning experience/resources?

Aberdeen College offers students a unique learning experience. Students are taught in small groups, across four major subject areas - Arts, Communication & Social Science; Technology, Science, Sport & Leisure; Engineering, Computing and Business Studies and Professional Studies, Care and Service Industries. The College offers support for studies through their Student Development Centre with opportunities to move on to Higher Education - in many cases to year two or three of a degree course at University.

The College has some of the finest resources of any further education college in Scotland. An Information Technology Centre provides access to 230 workstations - open evenings and weekends to the general public, there’s a ‘state of the art’ multi-media centre, broadcasting/TV studios, fitness suites, and shopping mall style restaurants and dining facilities.

The Colleges commitment to customer needs was recently acknowledged with the award of the nation’s highest public service accolade - the Prime Minister’s Charter Mark for excellence - the only college in Scotland to have achieved this for a third time.

What about study opportunities outwith the College?

Over the last few years the College has steadily expanded a whole range of learning opportunities in the outer community via some 80-90 Outreach Centres - in Banchory, Kemnay, Inverurie to name but a few. Most of these opportunities are provided by way of links with community education centres. Also, the College has a wide range of Open Learning courses - providing further opportunities for learning without actually attending college. A recent new innovation in learning is also provided by way of e-learning where students can study with tutor support by electronic means at home or in the workplace on their own computer.

Whether you’re planning to live in Aberdeen or not, we’re sure the College can assist with your learning or training needs.

The College company ASET (Aberdeen Skills and Training Ltd) offers an excellent range of training courses for onshore/offshore industries.
