Hotel And Resort Development

Since 1848, when Queen Victoria spent her first summer in a castle on the banks of the River Dee, Aberdeen City and Shire has been synonymous with the very best Scotland has to offer the discerning visitor.

From the beautiful Granite City of Aberdeen to the Cairngorms and Royal Deeside there are a range of hotel and leisure development opportunities.  In the city several new hotels are under development – including the Malmaison Group’s first hotel north of Edinburgh.  Operators enjoy the highest occupancy rates outside London at 75% - with an average room rate of £76 compared with the Scottish average of £55 (VisitScotland, 2007).

Highlighted here are some the current investment and development opportunities:

Fetternear Estate, Kemnay, Aberdeenshire

Fetternear is a family owned estate on the banks of the River Don. At its centre is a 16th century palace that was once the principal residence of the Bishops of Aberdeen. Plans have been prepared for a boutique hotel, conference and leisure centre, and investors/operators are now being sought.

A development partner is being sought for a 4-5 acre site for a high quality office, hotel and retail development in the heart of Aberdeen.

Royal Deeside Resort Development

An opportunity exists to work with Scottish Enterprise and a landowner to create a small scale luxury resort in the heart of Royal Deeside. The development is likely to comprise a hotel and fractional ownership cottages in one of the UK’s most beautiful locations. This development opportunity is at an early stage and as planning permission has not yet been applied for, there is an opportunity for a developer, investor or operator to get involved at an early stage in shaping this exciting proposition.
