Historical Links
Throughout the 19th Century Aberdeen and Canada developed extensive links. Between 1825 and 1872, more than 16,000 passengers left Aberdeen bound for a new life across the Atlantic, including many granite tradesmen encouraged by high wages. The timber trade also flourished.
Memoranda of Understanding (M.O.U.)
Aberdeen City and Shire strengthened its bond with Atlantic Canada through two Memoranda of Understanding with Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia in 1994.
